Historic Germantown in Nashville, Tennessee is an 18 square block area bounded by Jefferson Street on the south, Hume Street on the north, Rosa Parks Boulevard on the west and 3rd Avenue north on the east.
Established in the 1850s by European immigrants Historic Germantown was Nashville’s first suburb. The neighborhood was born as large brick town homes were erected next to modest worker’s cottages, providing an early example of a mixed-use neighborhood with a diverse socioeconomic population.
Germantown has unique characteristics that make it a premier destination for urban living. Proximity to downtown and major interstates place residents close to any sports or concert action.
First Tennessee Park, home of the Nashville Sounds, is a short walk south of the neighborhood, as is Bicentennial Mall Park and the Nashville Farmer’s Market.
